“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”
Adam woke up slowly. Why was he shivering? This is a strange sensation.
‘What can I call this? This is really weird. I’ve never felt this on my skin before. Its….painful’. That’s the word he will describe it with. Painful. Now give me another word for the feeling. Horrible. It was horribly cold. That is when he saw Eve staring at him. And ….what is this he’s seeing?
‘Oh my goodness. She is bare!’
No cloud. No rainbow. No light. What happened? Her nipples jutted out at him.
‘No………..’ he grunted. Look at that donkey staring at Eve. He shouted.
‘Look away! You darn….’
Oh dear. This one too is new. Fear. Anger. Jealousy. What happened?! He began to panic. ‘Eve! Stop staring at me. What’s going on?’
She was trembling.
‘I am afraid, Adam. You’ve lost your light. Can’t you see? And the lions don’t look right. They look like ….’
‘Enemies?’ Asked Adam.
‘Yes’. She nodded. ‘Like they do not love us. Did you sleep too? It is as if I’ve been asleep forever.’
Adam sighed. Understanding and knowledge flooded him.
‘It’s the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. What we are seeing is evil. Good has lost its influence and control. Evil has shown its face’.
He spoke in great pain. Eve shivered.
‘I thought it was going to make us powerful? Why do I feel weak and unable?’
She looked at her hands. They were shaking.
‘Adam!!!! Do something!!!! We are in danger!!!!’
Adam bowed his head. She screamed!
‘What are you doing?!!! Move. Don’t just stand there? Please!!! Do something I said!’
That is when she saw his tears and heard his words so slowly spoken…
‘Our father, who is in heaven. Hallowed be your name. Can your kingdom come again, please? Your will be done here, we beg you, as it is done in heaven. Give us today all we need. And forgive us this sin that has changed everything. Deliver us from evil. Lead us away from any more temptation. Because yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory. Forever and ever….’
His voice trailed away in the swim of tears and flood of pain.
