Why should you fail? But there are times when the odds are unparalleled, when giving up is justified, and folding up can be understood. The challenges can be so overwhelming that there is a perfect reason not to hope for more. The only difficulty is that if you failed to stand your ground – you would be finished. This enemy is not here to harass you. It is here to stop your journey.
In such moments, remember that miracles are real. Draw on the inspirations of your faith. Miracles are made to seem so natural in the Bible. But can they occur in our mundane world? I wish you believed this.
Because I believe in miracles and have had such a joy ride with them! I remember an interview I went to when I was 24-years-old. It was an interview that set a very strong trajectory for a career that I have enjoyed. My sponsor said if I was not called in by 12 noon, she would leave me to face the panel by myself. The rules required that I go in with the sponsor, or no hope of getting into the program. So I prayed. 11.59 am came and I was called in. In three minutes, the sponsor and I were out of the room. I had been allowed into the program. That was very early in my personal walk as a Christian, and the new awareness I was beginning to nurture about the power of prayer. I cherished that memory and continued to pray whenever I met challenges that my simple resources could not meet. Day after day, I have seen prayers answered. Projects completed, bills paid, healings, deliverances with diseases disappearing. I believe in miracles.
God knows you will need miracles to get to where you are going. Perhaps that is why He chose to be born by a virgin. And die on a cross, get buried, and three days later, appear to people who saw Him die. Perhaps that is why Has ensured that the administration of time on a global scale has been done in accordance with His time on earth. What’s more, He has chosen to teach you out of a book written by 66 authors who lived centuries apart, and yet produced such connected literature, it is as if they were the amanuensis of the same author. And through that book, He has shaped nations and the strongest civilizations this side of Christmas by His birth, death and resurrection. You had better believe all this too.
Not only will it make the difference between heaven and hell in eternity for you, but you need the inspiration of miracles for this side of time. There are times you will need to walk on water. When coins will need to come from the mouth of fish. Bread has to be multiplied, and water turned into wine.
Or life will remain mundane, pain wracked with no light at the end of the tunnel, and just drudgery. You were not meant to live without miracles. The image of God includes the incredible eagle, which sees what most cannot see. The arrogant lion, that strides without fear, in full sight of the gigantic elephant. The unperturbed ox, who can work to the bone, and get it done. And the creative man, who locks them all up in a zoo, and turns wild waters into tourist sites. Miracles are real. Believe and stop the march of time, until the work is done.
Prayer: Lord, help me to meditate on your word. To soak in your stories and be inspired to live because of your truths. To soar with faith and get your purposes done. I love you. I believe you. The just shall live by faith, so I shall. Amen
